Across the top 10 finishers in February's featured Mega contest, the captain picks shared three traits. All ten were middle-order batters or all-rounders. Nine of ten were players with a stable batting position. Eight of ten were players with a venue-specific record that matched the day's pitch.
What contest type the winners ran
Eight of ten ran in Mega contests; two ran in Winner Takes All. The pattern: bigger fields reward the contrarian captain pick; smaller fields reward the consensus captain pick with a stronger floor.
The picks that flipped the leaderboard
Each top-ten finisher carried at least one differential pick (a player picked by fewer than 10% of contest entrants). The differential that paid off in February was a wrist-spinner on a turning track who took 4-for; the differential that did not pay off was a pace bowler on a flat deck who went wicketless.
